The Clairs for Course Students

A Course in Miracles says:
“Actually, Jeane Dixon was right in her emphasis on ‘feet on the ground and fingertips in Heaven.’ Although she was too literal for some, many people knew exactly what she meant, so her statement was the right miracle for them.” [CE T-1.43.9:2-3]
What does “feet on the ground and fingertips in Heaven” have to do with the “clairs” (the “psychic abilities” of clairvoyance, clairaudience, claircognizance and clairsentience)?

The clair senses (or “clairs” for short) are pathways through which Spirit speaks to us. The clairs include:
Clairvoyance—intuitive seeing
Clairaudience—intuitive hearing
Claircognizance—intuitive knowing
Clairsentience—intuitive feeling
I believe the clairs are the “psychic abilities” that are referred to in the Manual for Teachers of A Course in Miracles.
The Course says that:
“…each individual has many abilities of which he is unaware. As his awareness increases, he may well develop abilities that seem quite startling to him. Yet nothing he can do can compare even in the slightest with the glorious surprise of remembering Who he is. (ACIM, M-25.1:3-5).
While remembering who we are need be our only goal, the clairs can be a “teaching aid” to assist us in learning that we do not walk alone.
How do they work?
Picture a tree.
For the tree to grow a wide canopy, it needs a deep and wide root system. Our intuitive abilities work in a similar manner. The more grounded we are in the present moment (with our “feet on the ground”) the more we can open to intuitive guidance (with our “fingertips in Heaven”) and this is where the clairs come in.
