Several years ago, I had an intuitive sense of knowing that my teachings would somehow be changing, only I had no idea what that meant.
Fast forward to 2021, I had an experience in my backyard of our Divine Mother, who conveyed to me to INCLUDE the body in my practice and teaching of A Course in Miracles. I had no idea what that meant either. But I trusted that I would eventually understand. And now, I’m starting to get it.
My friend, Freedom Cartwright, taught me that the ego hides trauma in the body. Since the body is IN the mind (in truth), it makes total sense as to why we’d benefit from working with our illusory bodies rather than just dismissing them as “not real.” We need to look (with the Holy Spirit) at every “hidden cornerstone” of fear, even the cornerstones that are quietly tucked away by the ego IN the body.
How do we do this? Well, since the trauma that is stored in the body can be VERY old, it can be helpful to conceptualize this trauma as energy. While I used to be totally dismissive of energy healing, I’ve not only come around to see it’s usefulness, but I’ve experienced profound healing as a result of it. And guess what. There’s even a quote in A Course in Miracles that speaks about energy (in my humble opinion):
The mind is very powerful, and never loses its creative force. ⁶It never sleeps. ⁷Every instant it is creating. ⁸It is hard to recognize that thought and belief combine into a power surge that can literally move mountains. (ACIM, T-2.VI.9:5-8)
A power surge? That to me, is a description of energy. While this quote is not relating to the body, it is still indicating that energy is a “thing” that can impact the world (i.e. mountains).
As Course students, we typically have no problem acknowledging that the body has physical systems (i.e. the cardiovascular system, nervous system, etc.). But some of us, especially in the West, may be slower to accept that the body has an energetic system, which has been studied in Eastern cultures for thousands of years. The body’s energetic system is like any other bodily system in this dream world, and I’m so grateful to the people and traditions of yoga and Ayurveda, through which these teachings originate.
As we clear out old energy from the body, healing happens when we call in the energy of our Self (our soul) to take up the vacancy that is left behind in the body. Now of course, the soul and the Self exist beyond the body and the body IS an illusion. What I’m sharing does not replace the truth of these teachings. But by imagining your Self taking up space in your body, you might find it to be truly helpful because it can induce an EXPERIENCE of something that is beyond your body.
Here’s another Course quote that speaks to what I’m saying. Through energy work, this quote from A Course in Miracles has come alive for me:
You need to feel something to put your faith in, as you lift it from the body. ⁴You need a real experience of something else, something more solid and more sure; more worthy of your faith, and really there. (ACIM, W-91.7:3-4)
In my recent experience, that “something else” has been LIGHT. Divine Light. The light of my soul. The light of my True Self. And I’m excited to share more of these types of teachings with you!
I recently spoke for Un Curso De Milagros Universal, the ACIM organization based out of Bogotá, Colombia. In this session, our theme was based on this Course quote, “This Christmas give the Holy Spirit everything that would hurt you” (ACIM, T-15.XI.3:1). In this 1.5 hour session, I share some teachings and we do a Divine Guidance Healing where we focus on releasing EVERYTHING that would hurt us, placing it all lovingly into the Holy Spirits arms.

This is a wonderful video. Very appropriate for me! Thank you…years of trauma with my siblings and my 32 years of marriage..I’m ok but this video has given me a real lift..
I’m so glad you found it helpful. xoxo
Thank you so much Corinne for your generosity in sharing this video. I applaud your understanding of using the body as a means to healing the mind.
The Course tells us in “What is the Body?” pg. 1437 in the CE edition (between lessons 260 and 261: “…we can change the purpose which the body will obey by changing what we think that is for. The body is the means by which God’s Son returns to sanity”.
The shift from being in the head, the thinking mind, to embodying and grounding down into the body, is a truly healing one.
Beautiful meditation. Thank you again. Love, Love, Love, Michele
Hi Michele – thank you so much for your words and what a GREAT connection to that quote from ACIM! A big YES. Love you! xoxo
