A Course in Miracles teaches us that “your part is merely to return your thinking to the point at which the error was made” so we can ask for a miracle to replace our mistaken thinking.

My days have largely shifted from painful to peaceful, so when “bad days” show up, I really notice them. In this episode, you’ll get to hear about a day when I was literally out of sync with the universe.

Everything. Went. Wrong.

From dropping my breakfast smoothie all over the floor, to a squirrel nibbling away at my chances of eating any homegrown peaches for the season, it felt like whatever I looked upon fell apart.

When I finally paused and asked for guidance about what was happening, I was surprised to be shown the thought that was fueling my chaos.

It was rooted in judgment.

When I was able to clearly see this and hand it over, my day ended very differently than it began.

In this episode, I share details of my experience along with some helpful tools and teachings from A Course in Miracles so you can shift out of a “bad day.”

Your ego may not like these teachings. But Spirit in you will rejoice!

ACIM QUOTES MENTIONED:

Your part is merely to return your thinking to the point at which the error was made, and give it over to the Atonement in peace.” (CE p. 229, para. 8; FIP T-5.VII.6)

“Whenever you are not wholly joyous, it is because you have reacted with a lack of love to some brother that God created.” (FIP T-5.VII.5; CE p. 229 para. 7)

“The alertness of the ego to the errors of other egos is not the kind of vigilance the Holy Spirit would have you maintain.” (FIP T-9.III.1; CE p. 333)

“Errors are of the ego, and correction of errors lies in the relinquishment of the ego. When you correct a brother, you are telling him that he is wrong. He may be making no sense at the time, and it is certain that, if he is speaking from the ego, he will not be making sense. But your task is still to tell him he is right. You do not tell him this verbally, if he is speaking foolishly. He needs correction at another level, because his error is at another level. He is still right, because he is a Son of God. His ego is always wrong, no matter what it says or does.”  (FIP T-9.III.2; CE p. 333)

“I must have decided wrongly, because I am not at peace.

I made the decision myself, but I can also decide otherwise.

I want to decide otherwise, because I want to be at peace.

I do not feel guilty, because the Holy Spirit will undo all the consequences of my wrong decision if I will let Him.

I choose to let Him, by allowing Him to decide for God for me.” (FIP T-5.VII.6; CE pp. 229-230)

MY SIX TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE:

  1. Identify where you are not at peace. Ask yourself, “Where am I feeling “off” today?” “Where am I not at peace?” Identify at least one area where you feel off.
  2. Take responsibility. Say to yourself, “I am not at peace because I chose to react with a lack of love to some brother that God created. I take responsibility for my thinking.”
  3. Ask to be shown where you went wrong. If you need to see the “lack of love” or mistaken thought, you will see it. If you don’t know where you reacted lovelessly, simply find your willingness to undo the error of where you went wrong.
  4. Hand over the error (or your willingness to undo the error) to Spirit.
  5. Remind yourself of the truth. You are safe, wholly innocent, and worthy of love. And so is everyone else.
  6. Use the prayer “I must have decided wrongly because I am not at peace.” This prayer is an easy alternative to the above steps.
