He’s baaack! Dr. Robert Rosenthal is with us again to talk about anxiety, coronavirus, and A Course in Miracles. When I had him on episode 24 I knew I wanted to invite him back to talk about anxiety.

Dr. Bob has a lot of experience working with anxious patients from his role as a psychiatrist. He also brings the unique perspective of A Course in Miracles, having studied it for over 40 years. Due to everything going on with coronavirus, we decided to make our interview happen sooner rather than later!

In this episode, you’ll hear our ideas about A Course in Miracles, coronavirus, and anxiety. Dr. Bob gives us some very practical takeaways.

ABOUT DR. BOB ROSENTHAL:

Robert Rosenthal, M.D. is co-president of the Foundation for Inner Peace, authorized publisher of A Course in Miracles, having served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors since 1993. He was introduced to the Course in 1975 at the age of 20 by Judith Skutch Whitson and became a close friend and protégé of its co-scribe, Bill Thetford. He is the author of From Never-Mind to Ever-Mind: Transforming the Self to Embrace Miracles and From Loving One to One Love: Transforming Relationships Through A Course in Miracles—the first two volumes of a five book series devoted to understanding the core principles of A Course in Miracles. His first book, From Plagues to Miracles: The Transformational Journey of Exodus, From the Slavery of Ego to the Promised Land of Spirit (Hay House, 2012), offers a groundbreaking reinterpretation of the story of Moses and Pharaoh as a parable of the spiritual journey back to God. His many talks and interviews as well as book samples can be accessed from his website, DrBob-Author.com and from his YouTube channel, RobertRosenthalMD.

Dr. Rosenthal is also a semi-retired board-certified psychiatrist and psychotherapist with over thirty years experience helping individuals and couples. He held the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the U.C. San Francisco School of Medicine and Hahnemann University (now Drexel) in Philadelphia.

CORINNE’S TAKEAWAYS:

I love what Dr. Bob shared with us in this episode:

  1. Acknowledge your fear when it arises. Make a neutral space for it. Be a witness to it.
  2. When you get caught in the “what if’s” say to yourself, “what if it doesn’t?’ This is such a fabulous way to pull yourself out of the catastrophic thinking that can hijack our peace of mind.
  3. Stay in the present as best you can. Fear is usually about the future and isn’t in the now. Take a break from the news. Come back to noticing what is in the space around you.
  4. “If we don’t, who does?” Love is in you and it wants to come out of you to be expressed. If you don’t do this, who will? We are being called as miracle workers to step up into our role in this world. The world NEEDS your light.
